The most notable advancement in the electronic security system was in 1969 when nurse who worked shifts opposite her spouse. She often felt unsafe in the home alone in Jamaica Queens as the police were slow to respond to emergency calls. Marie Van Brittan Brown and her Husband Albert. Marie received a patent in 1969 for the first home security system that used video surveillance.
